We do count. We count very much.
On a personal level, I live completely on my own - well - with my adored dog.
My dog is my dog by the way. She is not a substitute for a child. I love her as much as a mother loves her child but I do know she is a dog. She’s treated like a dog (well, I say that…). I’m whispering this - because we have no children, it doesn’t automatically mean our pet becomes our child. If it does so what? I say here that it is quietly or silently thought by some people - "her/his pet is the baby, here folks". Isn’t that condescending? Just saying…😉
What I'm saying is this - no matter your colour, creed, sexuality, age and so on - you absulutely matter. I guess I'm reaching out to those of you living and ageing without children. You absolutely matter - do you hear?
You matter because being childless doesn't matter. It doesn't make us different or selfish because we are childless. It makes us human.
“No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.”
